National oil giant Nilepet steps into a future of growth and transformation in Juba

Juba South Sudan | In an exciting development for the energy sector, South Sudan’s national oil company, Nilepet, has proudly inaugurated its new headquarters in Juba, known as ‘the Home of Transformation’. This modern facility marks a pivotal moment, demonstrating Nilepet’s evolution into a proactive and ambitious player in the petroleum industry.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit officiated the opening, symbolizing the nation’s commitment to fostering growth and self-sufficiency in its energy sector. The construction of the new headquarters, a journey spanning six years and overseen by four different managing directors, culminated successfully under the leadership of Managing Director Bernard Amour Makeny.

The inauguration event was a gathering of international and local energy sector influencers, including representatives from major global and regional petroleum companies. Bernard Amour Makeny, in his speech, highlighted the importance of unity, integrity, and dedication in propelling Nilepet forward.

With over 2,000 employees, Nilepet is a cornerstone of South Sudan’s economic and professional development. The new headquarters can accommodate 1,100 staff, reflecting the company’s expanded role and increasing stake in the energy market, notably in upstream operations.

Nilepet’s new home not only represents a leap in the company’s growth but also embodies a commitment to nurturing local talent and collaborating with international partners to elevate South Sudan’s position in the global energy landscape.
