Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May hire, train, and oversee junior staff in the department.
- May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Payroll Accountant Duties:
- Track and process payroll in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate employee files, including payroll records
- Provide assistance to human resources personnel on complex/special payroll issues
- Process retirement, termination, and resignation forms
- Prepare payroll reports, including W2s
- Enforce federal and state payroll regulations
- Create and maintain payroll records
- Oversee payroll deductions
Payroll Accountant Responsibilities:
- Pay wages, payroll taxes, and other employee compensation; process hourly time sheets and payroll records; and maintain time and payroll records, such as W-2s, W-3s, and unemployment reports
- Maintain employee benefit packages, including health insurance, life insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits
- Assist with payroll processing and employee termination
- Maintain accurate and updated records of all payroll activities
