The company was established on May 28, 2016, through a merger of the three main bottling companies for The Coca-Cola Company: Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc., Coca-Cola Iberian Partners, S.A., and Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke AG. However, it can trace its roots back to 1919 when Europe welcomes the first Coca-Cola bottling plants to Paris and Bordeaux in France.

Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc.

In 1986, The Coca-Cola Company merged some of its bottling operations with the John T. Lupton franchises and BCI Holding Corp’s bottling holdings to form Coca-Cola Enterprises, a publicly traded company.

During the 1990s, Coca-Cola Enterprises started making international acquisitions: in the Netherlands in 1993, in Belgium, Great Britain and France in 1996, followed by Luxembourg in 1998 and Monaco in 1999.

In 1991, Coca-Cola Enterprises and the Johnston Coca-Cola Bottling Group merge, creating a larger organization.

Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke AG

Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke GmbH was founded in 1990 for bottling and distribution in the east of Germany. At that time, Coca-Cola bottles started being sold in East Germany again following the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

In 2007, all remaining, independent German bottlers merge with Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke AG.

In October 2020, Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) announced the proposed acquisition of Coca-Cola Amatil to form the world’s largest Coca-Cola bottler and one of the leading FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) companies in the world.

In May 2021, the two companies join together following the completion of the acquisition in May. The name of the new company is Coca-Cola Europacific Partners.

With over 23 000 employees in more than 13 markets, Coca-Cola European Partners plc (CCEP) is considered one of the world’s largest independent Coca-Cola bottlers, based on revenue. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
