Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is an independent Commonwealth statutory authority whose role is to enforce the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and a range of additional legislation, promoting competition, fair trading and regulating national infrastructure for the benefit of all Australians.

The ACCC promotes competition and fair trade in markets to benefit consumers, businesses, and the community. We also regulate national infrastructure services. Our primary responsibility is to ensure that individuals and businesses comply with Australian competition, fair trading, and consumer protection laws – in particular the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

We host and participate in events to encourage discussion around consumer, competition and regulatory issues relevant to our work.

We host and participate in a wide range of committees and forums to encourage discussion around consumer, competition, and regulatory issues relevant to our work.

We’ve compiled collections of resources that may be of interest to specific audience groups.

We undertake in-depth market, sector or industry reviews with the aim of improving our understanding of industry practices and dynamics in those sectors.

The ACCC consults with the public and our stakeholders in a variety of ways. Most of our public consultations and the submissions received are published on our websites.

We have tools and resources available to help you understand your consumer rights and keep up to date with scams, product safety and other ACCC issues.
