Agence France-Presse is a French international news agency headquartered in Paris, France. Founded in 1835 as Havas, it is the world's oldest news agency. With 2,400 employees of 100 nationalities, AFP has an editorial presence in 260 cities across 151 countries.

The world will get a whole new experience of 48 teams at the upcoming United States, Mexico and Canada 2026 world cup after increasing the number from the initial 32 teams. “The revised format mitigates the risk of collusion and ensures that all the teams play a minimum of three matches, while providing balanced rest time between competing teams,” said world football’s governing body.

The world football governing body FIFA has approved the new world cup format where 48 teams will participate in 104 games in the year 2026. This new format will see the tournament host 48 teams categorized into 12 groups of 4 teams each, 3 games will be played per team at group levels. This makes it a maximum of 8 games up from 7 and the top 2 teams from each group plus 8 best 3rd placed sides advance to the next stage.

There is also news showing that Morocco will join Spain and Portugal’s bid to host the 2030 World Cup. Ukraine was earlier on part of those interested in hosting the 2030 world cup and it is not clear if their bid still stands or not.
