Anthony Joshua car crash

Anthony Joshua car crash has left the British heavyweight boxer injured after a tragic collision in Nigeria on December 29, 2025. Joshua, a passenger in a Lexus SUV, was involved in a crash on a major expressway in Ogun State, which resulted in the deaths of two of his close team members, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.

Details of the Fatal Crash and Immediate Response

The Anthony Joshua car crash occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway when the SUV collided with a stationary truck. Early investigations suggest that a tyre burst due to excessive speed caused the vehicle to lose control. Joshua and the driver were rescued from the wreckage and transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Ghami and Ayodele were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Tributes for the Two Team Members Who Lost Their Lives

Both Ghami, Joshua’s long-time strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, his personal trainer, were integral to Joshua’s career. Tributes have poured in from the boxing community and fans worldwide. Eddie Hearn, the chair of Joshua’s promoter Matchroom Boxing, expressed his condolences, and fellow boxing experts reflected on the immense contributions of both men to Joshua’s success.

Joshua’s Condition and Official Statements

After the Anthony Joshua car crash, Joshua was taken to a hospital in Lagos for observation and treatment. His condition was reported as stable, and he has been in contact with his family. Nigerian authorities and boxing officials confirmed that Joshua narrowly escaped death, with the accident being a shocking turn of events during his visit to the country after his victory over Jake Paul earlier in December.

The Anthony Joshua car crash underscores the dangers on Nigerian roads, with the boxing champion and his team tragically affected by this accident. As the investigation continues, the boxing community mourns the loss of two close figures who played key roles in Joshua’s career.
