KUPPET Questions Government Directive For Parents To Pay Schools Fees E-Citizen Platform

KUPPET opposes the Government directive for parents to use eCitizen platform to pay school fees calls for clear public participation, legislation and policy framework.

KUPPET national officials have opposed the move by Government to force parents to use eCitizen platform to pay school fees saying it will be difficult for many Kenyans.

Officials led by Secretary General Akello Misori have called on Government to guarantee Kenyans that they will respect and obey court orders which has halted the move for parents to use eCitizen platform to pay school fees.

The High Court in Nairobi temporarily halted a recent government directive for parents to pay school fees for their children through eCitizen platform.

Milimani Law Court Judge Chacha Mwita hence suspended the circular by Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang pending further directions to be issued in the case on February 13, 2024.

Speaking during a press conference in Kirinyaga Misori says that KUPPET is not opposed to technology but there is a need to give room to all education stakeholders before implementing such directives.

He says that there must be clear public participation, legislation and policy framework to ensure the process is smooth without in hiccups.

He has also castigated the Treasury Cabinet Secretary for failing to gazette Trustees members of Public Service Pension Scheme saying that the delay has affected many retired teachers and other civil servants.

KUPPET chairman Amboko Mirema says that for three months the CS has failed to gazette the trustees accusing the Treasury Principal secretary of trying to micro-manage nominations of members of the pension scheme.

He says that the Treasury has refused to gazette the names which were proposed by KUPPET revealing that civil servants and teachers are on the verge of losing millions of retirement benefits of the matter is not resolved.
