In this article we look at How to Apply as an independent Ice Supplier to Fishing Industry in Uganda. Any person who wishes to supply ice as an independent supplier to fish industry in Uganda is eligible for this license in accordance with regulations made for that purpose is Eligible. The License Fees required for an independent ice supply to fishing industry is UShs. 371,907. The permit for ice supply is valid for a period of 1 year before renewal. The Maximum processing time for processing of this permit is 2 days. The Commissioner may approve independent suppliers of ice to the fishing industry, which meet such conditions as may be prescribed in the second Schedule and fifth Schedule to the rules.
This license serves a regulatory purpose and the process of its acquisition is stipulated in the legal framework.
- In order to protect the public, independent ice supplier to fish industry are mandated by law to operate ice supply business with a permission in order to protect the fish industry from dangers arising from supply of substandard ice , the Ministry of agriculture animal industry and fisheries requires that anybody who intends to supply ice to fish industry apply for an independent ice supply license.
- The purpose is to ascertain what sort of ice facilities that is allowed by the Authority for storing the fish.
Here is How to Apply as an independent Ice Supplier to Fishing Industry in Uganda
- The first step is to Contact the Commissioner for fisheries in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries office to apply as an independent supplier of Ice to the fishing industry.You can visit their website on the following link
- Before the Applicant is permitted to supply ice to the fishing industry , the Authority shall satisfy that the applicant meets the requirements necessary to carry out this activity before a certificate is issued to this effect.
- An application to undertake the supply of ice to the fishing industry shall be in a prescribed Form set out in the Schedule of the Regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
- The application shall be accompanied by the fee specified in the prescribed in the second Schedule and fifth Schedule to the rules.
- The applicant shall, in addition to the fee referred to above , shall make sure that cooling facilities are available in the Local Area for fishing.
- The applicant can also find out which other conditions required to be independent suppliers of ice to the fishing industry and what sort of ice facilities that is allowed by the Authority for storing the fish. You can contact the nearest fisheries department office for a preliminary advise on the facility.
- Where areas of non-compliance are identified from the Fisheries department , improvements should be undertaken so that everything is up to par.
- If everything is in order, you can now move on to the next step and submit your application for independent supplier of ice through the Fisheries Department in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
- Once payment is made the independent supplier of ice certificate will be processed within seven days.
- The license has a validity period of one year and you can start operations immediately.
- Pay all dues and levy as and where applicable. Other conditions of issuance of the certificate should be observed (Non-compliance can lead to suspension of certificate)
