Morocco tourism record

Morocco’s tourism sector achieved record-breaking numbers in 2025, welcoming 19.8 million visitors. This marks a significant 14% increase from the previous year. The surge is fueled by new international air routes, stronger market links, and strategic investments in hospitality infrastructure. Consequently, the sector is solidifying its role as a vital pillar of the national economy.

Driving Growth: New Routes and Strategic Investment

The record figures are no accident. Morocco has actively pursued new international air routes and deepened connections with key source markets. Simultaneously, the country has promoted diverse destinations beyond its classic cities. This strategy attracts a wider range of travelers. Additionally, significant investment has flowed into renovating existing hotels and opening new properties. This expansion ensures capacity meets rising demand.

Economic Impact and Revenue Surge

Tourism is a cornerstone of Morocco’s economy. It contributes around 7% of the national GDP and supports hundreds of thousands of jobs. Crucially, it generates essential foreign currency. The financial returns are soaring. Between January and November 2025, tourism revenue hit 124 billion dirhams ($13.5 billion). This represents a remarkable 19% year-on-year increase.

The Road to 2030: World Cup Ambitions

Morocco is not resting on its success. The country has set an ambitious target: attract 26 million tourists by 2030. This goal aligns with its role as co-host of the FIFA World Cup 2030, alongside Spain and Portugal. The global spotlight of the tournament presents an unprecedented opportunity. It will reinforce Morocco’s position as a premier global tourism and event destination.

Morocco’s record tourism year in 2025 is a testament to effective strategy and investment. By leveraging new air links, diversifying its offerings, and building toward the 2030 World Cup, the nation is poised for continued growth. The sector’s robust performance is a major economic success story, promising greater prosperity and global recognition in the years ahead.
