Ademola Lookman Joins Atlético Madrid

One of the standout transfers of this winter, Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Atlético Madrid. The deal, reportedly worth around 40 million euros, ends his fruitful stint at Atalanta. Known for his explosive speed and attacking versatility, Lookman impressed with his performances at the 2024 AFCON, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists. In Madrid, he’ll aim to strengthen Diego Simeone’s forward line, adding even more flair to the club’s attack.

Seko Fofana’s Bounce to FC Porto

Ivory Coast international Seko Fofana’s loan move from Stade Rennais to FC Porto has been in the works for weeks and is now official. Fofana, a powerful box-to-box midfielder, has struggled to hit top form in Brittany following his return from Saudi Arabia. A move to FC Porto, the leader of the Portuguese league, will provide him with a fresh start and the opportunity to thrive in a competitive environment, especially with the Europa League in sight.

Terem Moffi Heads to FC Porto

Also joining FC Porto is Nigerian striker Terem Moffi, on loan from OGC Nice with an option to buy for 8 million euros. Moffi, who was previously at Lorient, had a challenging spell at Nice but is looking to rediscover his best form at Porto. In a new league and with the promise of regular playing time, Moffi aims to prove his worth in the Portuguese league.

Simon Adingra’s Loan to AS Monaco

AS Monaco has secured the loan signing of Ivorian winger Simon Adingra from Sunderland. The 24-year-old will add pace and depth to Monaco’s attack as they battle for European positions. Adingra, who struggled for game time in England, will now seek to relaunch his career in Ligue 1 and provide much-needed options for Monaco’s offensive play.

David Datro Fofana’s New Challenge at Strasbourg

Ivorian striker David Datro Fofana has moved on loan to Strasbourg from Chelsea. After loan spells at Union Berlin, Burnley, and Turkey, Fofana is looking to establish himself in Ligue 1. The 23-year-old will now get the chance to show his potential and fight for a starting role in a highly competitive league.

Bouna Sarr Returns to FC Metz

Senegalese right-back Bouna Sarr, who was recently released by Bayern Munich, has made a return to FC Metz. At 34 years old, the veteran will offer his wealth of experience to a club fighting to stay in Ligue 1. This move provides Sarr with the opportunity to relaunch his career in a league he knows well.

Other Notable Moves

In addition to the major signings mentioned, there were other noteworthy moves:

  • Tochukwu Nnadi joined Olympique de Marseille from Zulte-Waregem for €6 million. The 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder adds strength to the Marseille midfield.
  • Himad Abdelli made a move to Marseille from Angers for €2.5 million, bolstering the club’s midfield with his versatility.
  • Moussa Ndiaye was loaned to Schalke 04 from Anderlecht, where he’ll aim to gain more playing time in the 2nd German division.
  • Mamadou Sarr, previously at Strasbourg, had his loan with Chelsea cut short and returned to England.
