Pagani Automobili S.p.A. (commonly referred to as Pagani) is an Italian manufacturer of hypercars and carbon fiber components. The company was founded in 1992 by the Argentine Horacio Pagani and is based in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena, Italy.

HISTORY
The Pagani Automobili’s origins date back to the founding of Modena Design in 1991. However, the company’s founder, Horacio Pagani, was dealing with cars and design long before that.
In 1978, the individual company Horacio Pagani Design made its first appearance on the market with the Alpine caravan for “Radio Casilda” at the Industrial and Commercial Exhibition of Casilda.
In 1979, the first Pagani F2 vehicle was completed after around five thousand hours of work invested in this project.
In 1983, Horacio Pagani started working for the Modenese manufacturer Lamborghini. He found a job as a mechanic at first and later as head of the composite material department. Once there, he helped in the design and production of the LMA Jeep, the Jalpa, the Countach Evoluzione, and the Golf Caddy.
By 1988 he had developed a keen interest in carbon fiber and its applications in the automotive industry. The Pagani Composite Research was set up and contributed to the creation of the Diablo, the Lamborghini P140, the L30 and the Diablo Anniversary.
All that experience with supercars gave Horacio the confidence to fulfill his dream of building his own supercar, the C8 project, as it was called initially. Later, Horacio gave the car a new name, the Fangio F1, to honor the Argentinian who won the F1 championship 5 times, Juan Manuel Fangio.
In 1991, Horacio interrupted the collaboration with Lamborghini and founded Modena Design.
To finance the Fangio F1 (Zonda) project, Modena Design developed composite materials for many companies, participating in both the construction of prototypes and the manufacture of parts for Formula 1 and for the aerospace industry.
In 1992, he was ready to start working on his Fangio F1 prototype.
In 1994, Horacio collaborated with Mercedes Benz to power Pagani with V12 engines.

In 1999, the first car made by Pagani was eventually named the Zonda C12, and was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
In 2016, the new Huayra BC was released. “BC” came from the initials of Benny Caiola, the very first customer of Pagani Automobili and a great friend of Horacio Pagani.
In 2020, Pagani Huayra Tricolore was created as a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the Frecce Tricolori, the Italian Air Force Aerobatic Team, which is one of the world’s largest aerobatics patrols. Huayra Tricolore is a concentration of specifically aeronautical concepts and technologies developed for a car.
